What is ZMA?

ZMA is a supplement category that is not as popular as other categories like creatine, protein, etc. but is definitely growing in popularity, evident by the numerous brands that have started carrying their own version. ZMA stands for Zinc monomethionine aspertate Magnesium Aspertate and is trademarked by SNAC Systems and the formula is patent-pending.

What does ZMA do?

ZMA’s main claim to fame is a study run by the patent owner and inventor which showed increases in testosterone, as well as strength and power. Furthermore, magnesium has been shown to help in calming nerves and relaxing muscles. These two effects combined created the idea that ZMA is the perfect supplement to take prior to bedtime, helping you sleep without pharmaceuticals and build muscle.

If you decide to take ZMA, please be careful not to take with or close to ingesting calcium containing products. Calcium interferes with absorption of these two minerals.
